Meet at the LOVE sign

Use the corner of 18th Street and Cypress Avenue as your starting point. Beside the Oceanfront Library is the three-dimensional LOVEwork by artist Chesley De Leon. It’s a recognizable place for the group to meet before exploring the smaller pieces nearby.

Leave a little space around the letters when taking a photo. That way you get the street and the neighborhood in the frame along with the sculpture.

Explore the 18th Street Parklet

Continue along the 18th Street Parklet by ViBe Park and look for the art along the fence. The panels are a good reason to walk this stretch slowly. A small piece that disappears beside a big wall mural can be the one you remember.

On your way back toward Cypress, look beyond the walls, too. The district’s artists have worked on sidewalks, utility boxes and street crossings. For a longer outing, use the public art map below to choose another piece nearby.

Finish at Three Ships Coffee

From the park, head up Cypress Avenue to 19th Street and find Three Ships Coffee at 607 19th Street. Use the Oceanfront roastery address when you pull it up on your phone. Three Ships has more than one location.

If half the group wants coffee before the walk, do it in reverse. Meet at the roastery, walk to 18th and Cypress, and finish the morning looking at the art. The route works in either direction.
