Turn right for the fishing pier

For a short first outing, head south from 18th Street with the water on your left. The street numbers count down as you walk. The pier, at 1413 Atlantic Avenue, is an easy landmark to aim for. You can see its pilings from the sand, so you can enjoy the view even if you don’t plan to go out on the pier.

If you’re bringing chairs, the townhome has a beach cart, towels and a cooler. One simple plan is to set up near the 18th Street access, then walk down to the pier with whoever feels like stretching their legs. There are public restrooms at 17th Street.

Turn left for King Neptune

For a longer outing, head north with the ocean on your right. Follow the numbered streets up to 31st Street, where King Neptune stands above the boardwalk. The statue makes an easy meeting place if part of the group wants to get there by bike. The boardwalk has a separate bike path alongside the pedestrian walkway.

You can make this walk as short as you like. Pick a numbered street as your turnaround and come back along the same stretch of ocean. On the return, look for 18th Street to find your way back toward the townhome.

An ocean surf session at First Street

When Star and Austin have a free morning, they like to walk the boardwalk at dawn or take their boards down to First Street. First Street is an ocean surf spot at the south end of the Oceanfront. For this outing, use the First Street Jetty map link below. The 18th Street surf address in our Atlantic Park guide is for the wave lagoon.

Starting at Lake Holly Getaway

Lake Holly Getaway is about three blocks from the ocean. The house has beach chairs, towels, boogie boards and a cooler. For an easy beach day, take the chairs and cooler out first, then decide whether to add a walk to the pier. Note the street number where you reach the sand so you can find your way back.
